Heather MacRae-Trulson grew up with an appreciation of nature and the world around her most often expressed through her image making. She began painting by exploring how the figure would suit the role of a subject and address her desire to understand the relationship between people and their environment. This then grew into paintings that sought to identify the entanglements of human life and the concept of environment, from internal to external domain, and the identification of these systems. The most recent works represent the physical product of a collection and arrangement of intangible visual material that we accrue as we move through our surroundings using the tangible materials of ink, paint, paper and canvas.
